The third 2014 Euroleague Basketball Institute Annual Workshops will mark the run-up to a new season by bringing together professionals from every corner of the sport for an expanded series of events in early July.
The newest feature will be the participation of the stars themselves, as the arrival of team captains on July 1 will open seven days' worth of events in Barcelona, Spain that will culminate with the 2014-15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Draws on July 10.
In between those dates, at several venues in Barcelona, a parade of players, coaches, club executives and outside experts will meet on a near-daily basis with Euroleague Basketball personnel to focus on sharing each other's experiences to raise the level of the clubs that form the competition and to agree on common strategies for growth in the future.
The first three days of workshops revolve around the on-court protagonists from Euroleague games. A full schedule awaits the team captains on Tuesday, July 1, including their opening meeting with Euroleague Basketball executives, a One Team session and a group dinner. The following day, several of the captains will remain to join some head coaches in filming a special promotional spot.
The head coaches will hold their annual meeting on Wednesday afternoon before dining together that evening. On the morning of Thursday, July 3, the head coaches and referees commission will first hold their annual discussion of trends in the game and officiating before moving together to the basketball court to work through matters of new rules and interpretations. Before departing, the head coaches will take part in their own One Team session. The first week of workshops will close with the Euroleague Basketball Referees Commission meeting later on Thursday.
The meetings resume on Monday July 7 with the first Euroleague Basketball Ticketing Workshop. The following day, while the second ticketing workshop session takes place, Euroleague team media directors arrive to discuss communications strategy and attend their own One Team session. Wednesday, July 9 will feature the European Basketball Marketing Summit, which attracts guest speakers and attendees from across the continent to network on the latest trends in their profession. The final activity will see the EBI Master Alumni congregate in Barcelona on Thursday, July 10, shortly before the teams find out their opponents in the 2014-15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Draws.
All told, hundreds of guests will come together at the 2014 Euroleague Basketball Institute Annual Workshops with one clear goal: to dedicate themselves to the continuing growth of the sport at every level.
