Television coverage set to break Euroleague Final Four records

A new record to be set in the Final Four

Euroleague Basketball is proud to announce that TV coverage of the 2014 Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Milan, Italy this weekend has drawn record interest from broadcasters around the globe.

 

Thanks to new agreements with BT in the United Kingdom and TV+ and Film+HD in Bulgaria, the pinnacle event of the European basketball season is set to reach a milestone this week with more than 52 networks worldwide broadcasting a variety of live events to a record-breaking 201 countries and territories on six continents.

 

Game coverage of the Final Four opens Friday with the semifinals - CSKA Moscow vs. Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv followed by FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid - which start, respectively, at 18:00 and 21:00 local time (CEST) in Milan. On Sunday, the third-place game tips off at 17:00 local time, while the championship game to decide the new Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion begins at 21:00. Euroleague Basketball wishes to give special thanks to host broadcaster Fox Sports Italy, whose efforts will enable networks the option of broadcasting live the Efes Euroleague Awards Ceremony and the official opening press conference, both Thursday, the press conference for the finalists on Saturday, and the Euroleague Basketball Nike International Junior Tournament title game on Sunday.

 

"Once again this year, the global interest in the Final Four on the part of broadcasters reconfirms how attractive the Turkish Airlines Euroleague is for fans around the world," Andrea Bassani, Euroleague Basketball's Director of Television, said. "With our partner, Fox Sports Italy, we are assured of production quality that we are sure will bring those fans around the world back to see more and more Euroleague games in the future."

 

Among the many broadcasting networks, Euroleague Basketball wants to draw special attention to its partners Setanta and Supersport, with an audience reaching 54 countries across Africa; Al Jazeera, whose broadcasts will feature in 24 countries and territories throughout the Middle East and North Africa; Eurosport Asia which will broadcast the game in as many as 43 countries in South Asia, Oceania, and across the South Pacific; Direct TV & SkyMex which will show the games in 50 countries of the South and Central America and the Caribbean; Chinese broadcasters CCTV 5, Liaoning TV, LETV and Chonquing TV reaching audiences in that country.
