Euroleague Top 16, Round 13: Sportando Team of the Week

Zoran Erceg is the MVP

EuroLeague

MVP - Zoran Erceg (Galatasaray)

Despite a close loss in Moscow (85-86 OT), Erceg has an outstanding scoring night: he scores 15 of his 35 points in the last 8.30 of the game, 10 in overtime, both shooting from deep and getting to the rim. He struggles less than usual on defense, also because of Krstic's off-night, and can hold his own in the paint, something which Galatasaray badly needed without Mensah-Bonsu. What's more, with a pair of free throws and a steal on a passing lane he sends the game to overtime, and in the game he has 35 PTS on a 7/9 shooting from three point range, 9 RBS, 5 FD and 36 EV.

Dimitris Diamantidis (Panathinaikos)

In the big home win against Unicaja Malaga (69-60) which sends Panathinaikos to the Playoffs, Diamantidis dominates the game on the pick and roll, despite a really good defense from Dragic and the other Spanish guards. He doesn't force any shot and easily finds both the roll-man and the spot-up shooters, also playing outstanding defense. In the third quarter he gives to his team the decisive lead with assists in back-to-back possessions to Curry and Lasme, and in the game he has 13 PTS, 6 AST, 8 FD and 31 EV.

Malcolm Delaney (FC Bayern Munich)

In the home loss against Maccabi Tel Aviv (92-94), once again Delaney is unguardable on offense, pushing in transition and doing a terrific job on pick and roll plays: he's able to easily find the open man, and is really effective in beating his defender off the dribble thanks to his astonishing quickness. He also plays good on-man defense on Maccabi's guards. He finishes with 17 PTS, 7 RBS, 10 AST, 11 FD and 35 EV.

Alessandro Gentile (EA7 Milan)

Without Langford, Gentile leads the way in the huge home win against Barcelona (91-63), being able to easily create off the dribble: he can drive and kick finding the open teammate, and scores a lot of points by pulling up from mid-range, even though his strong physique allows him also to attack the basket and absorb contacts. He's also really aggressive on defense. He has 24 PTS, 7 RBS, 6 AST and 28 EV.

Alex Tyus (Maccabi Tel Aviv)

14 PTS, 9 RBS, 2 BLK, 26 EV. In a road win which gives to Maccabi the third spot in Group F, once again Tyus has a key role for Maccabi thanks to his defensive effort and rebounding ability, and is effective on offense on pick and roll plays. In the final minutes he makes a lot of pivotal plays fighting a heavy Bayern frontcourt, particularly blocking Zipser and Djedovic at the rim.
