Euroleague Top 16, Round 1: Sportando Team of the Week

Spanoulis is the MVP of the round

EuroLeague

MVP - Vassilis Spanoulis (Olympiacos)
With an unbelievable offensive performance Spanoulis leads Olympiacos to a big home win against Fenerbahçe (95-82): he starts the game with 10 points and 3 assists in the first quarter, getting to the basket with ridiculous ease and assisting his teammates out of the pick and roll or giving them open looks by making opponents' defense collapse on him. And once again he's clutch: a jumper off the dribble in the third quarter, when Fenerbahçe is able to cut the Greek lead down to two points, and many big plays in the last five minutes, including the three which gives to his team the crucial 9-point lead with less than 1.20 on the clock. He finishes with 28 PTS shooting 9/15 from the field and 4/8 from three point range, 5 RBS, 9 AST, 9 FD and 39 EV.

Ricky Hickman (Maccabi Tel Aviv)
24 PTS, 7 FD, 26 EV. Hickman is unstoppable in one on one situations or out of the pick and roll and scores 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter in order to help Maccabi Tel Aviv in grabbing a big road win against Galatasaray (90-84), including a really tough jumper with his team down by 5, after breaking Akyol's ankles. He also plays really good defense both on Arroyo and Arslan, fighting through screens and contesting their shots without fouling.

Emir Preldzic (Fenerbahçe)
When Olympiacos builds up a pivotal lead in the first quarter, Preldzic is the only Fenerbahçe player who is able to consistently create offense off the dribble, thanks to his outstanding prowess on pick and roll plays that makes him one of the best offensive player in Europe: as usual he pass the ball really well and can score with ease, also making impossible to Lojeski to defend him by stepping under the screen and forcing coach Bartzokas to put Mantzaris on him. He also makes a couple of tough threes in final minutes and is the one who plays better defense on Spanoulis. He finishes with 17 PTS shooting 6/9 from the field and 3/5 from beyond the arc, 6 RBS, 5 AST and 28 EV.

Andres Nocioni (Laboral Kutxa)
In a really impressive shooting performance which gives to Laboral Kutxa a huge road win in Malaga (93-79), Nocioni battles in the paint and plays excellent defense particularly on Caner-Medley, not allowing him to get the ball. He also connects on an impressive 4/4 from beyond the arc, including an important one during the 11-2 run at the beginning of the third quarter. He has 20 PTS, 9 RBS and 25 EV.

Joey Dorsey (FC Barcelona)
Anadolu Efes suffers a blowout loss in Barcelona (84-65) and the Spanish team outrebounds them 46-26. Dorsey's impressive physical presence and toughness in the paint destroy opponents' big men, and he has 10 PTS, 11 RBS (6 on the offensive end) and 21 EV in only 20 minutes on the court.
