Euroleague Game 5: Sportando Team of the Week

Justin Dentmon the MVP

EuroLeague

MVP - Justin Dentmon (Zalgiris Kaunas).
Despite being a fairly limited player with some role concern, Dentmon has a really strong feel for the basket. In the crucial home win against Brose Baskets Bamberg (91-81) he looks better than usual both in decision making and on the defensive end, but first and foremost he scores 24 points (16 of which in the first half), with an impressive 6/6 from beyond the arc. He adds also 9 assists, finishing with 32 EV.

Sergio Rodriguez (Real Madrid).
Easy games with plenty of garbage time are not perfectly suited to award a player, even when they come against Anadolu Efes (103-57 in Madrid). But Rodriguez is amazing with the ball in his hands and is able to do whatever he wants apparently without any struggle: his control on the game is astonishing, as he can constantly see anything that happens on the court, controlling the tempo and making the right decision. He's right now the best playmaker in Europe, and one of the most decisive players in at least a year. Against the Turkish team he finishes with 14 PTS, 11 AST, only 1 TO and 27 EV in less than 20 minutes on the court.

Vassilis Spanoulis (Olympiacos).
If Olympiacos is able to steal a home win in a crazy game against Stelmet Zielona Gora (79-77), that's mostly because of Spanoulis' show in the second half: the Greek guard scores 14 of his points, including 8 in the last two minutes with two crucial three pointers, in order to avoid what could have been a huge upset. He has 18 PTS, 9 AST and 23 EV in the game.

Joey Dorsey (FC Barcelona).
Dorsey has an impressive physical impact in the road win in Kyiv (84-74), being a key factor in the pivotal break during the second half: an unstoppable force in the paint when drives hard to the basket out of teammates' passes, his presence changes the game also on the defensive end. He finishes with 16 PTS (5/5 from the field, 4 dunks) shooting 6/7 from the free throw line, adding also 2 BLK, 6 FD and 22 EV in only 17 minutes on the court.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Galatasaray).
A huge addition for Galatasaray, against Bayern Munich he plays one of the most impressive first half of the season in order to build a 17-point lead that the German team is not able to overcome, despite a late run in the fourth quarter. Mensah-Bonsu's toughness and athleticism are hardly matchable by opponents' big men, as he finishes with 19 PTS (16 in the first half), 13 RBS (7 on the offensive end) and 27 EV.
