Euroleague Game 2: Sportando Team of the Week

Linas Kleiza is the MVP of the Week

EuroLeague

MVP: Linas Kleiza (Fenerbahçe). The Lithuanian forward has a tremendous scoring night: he scores 15 of his total 22 points in the first half, with 12 in the second quarter alone, acting mainly as a 4 and being almost unguardable for Spanish forwards. In the third quarter he sinks a crucial three pointer following Lampe's unsportsmanlike foul, which gives Fenerbahçe a ten-point lead after an opponents' break. In the fourth quarter, with his team up by 3 with about 10 seconds on the clock, he catches the offensive rebound after a 0/2 from the foul line by Preldzic, and scores the two free throws that give to his team the final lead (75-70). He finishes with 22 PTS and 24 EV, shooting 6/13 from the field and 8/8 from the free throw line.

Bogdan Bogdanovic (Partizan Belgrade): Despite the huge performance by Dragan Milosavljevic, probably the terrific game played by Bogdanovic deserves a little more. In the home win against Nanterre (73-43) he has a tremendous all-around game and shows once again impressive maturity and IQ: he finishes with 16 PTS, 5 AST and 22 EV, playing also high-level defense, displaying a really good shot selection and showing no trouble with decision making.

David Moss (EA7 Milan): His stats don't jump off the chart (16 PTS, 3 STL and 22 EV) but he has a pivotal role in the home victory against Zalgiris Kaunas (82-75) thanks to his outstanding defensive contribution, with a tireless work in rotations and hustle plays. He's also able to take a bigger offensive role in a game in which Gentile and Langford struggle a lot; and he makes the most important shot of the game with about five minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter, hitting a three to give his team a 6-point lead.

Andres Nocioni (Laboral Kutxa): 23 PTS, 12 RBS, 10 FD, 35 EV. In a blowout loss against Panathinaikos in Cyprus (74-95), Nocioni and Jelinek are the only players that can regularly score against Greek defense. 'El Chapu' is almost unguardable when drives hard to the basket, creating both in ISO and in spot-up situations; furthermore, he has also a pivotal role in rebounding the ball in a frontcourt that features only centers Pleiss and Diop, and is the least bad on an awful team defense that gives up plenty of open shots.

Nathan Jawai (Galatasaray): In the home loss against Olympiacos (67-78) he's able to keep his team in the game after a 12-point halftime deficit. With his huge physique and good footwork he's hardly stoppable in the low post, and is able to earn a lot of free throws and to draw a good amount of fouls from Olympiacos' big men, while being also effective on pick and roll plays and being able to create open looks for his teammates thanks to his enormous presence in the paint. He has 22 PTS, 6 FD and 29 EV, while shooting 11 times from the foul line.
